The history of Chinese Studies in the United States can be roughly divided into three stages, namely the foundation period, the ten-year development period and the comprehensive development period. The transformation of the two research paradigms from the “central view of the west” to “the central view of China” and “post modernism” indicates the two major leaps and changes of the perspective and thinking of the Chinese studies. American Chinese studies have enlightenment and mutual recognition for China's understanding of China itself; it has a guiding role in strengthening the development of social sciences in China. To nurture and test the western theory itself is conducive to the deepening and incremental development of the community of social science and the general knowledge system worldwide. It is conducive to deepening the understanding and judgment of America to China and helping the exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
