It opens up the method of Second Film Semiotics to combine Linguistics and Psychoanalysis. This method, with the combination of the two theories, examines the identity of the film as a visual rhetoric with the general language, and finally enables Film Semiotics to complete the propositional argumentation of “film is language.” Its ideological heritage is reflected in the fact that it provides rhetoric with a Mata-Rhetoric theory of trans-media, and also provides an important supplement to the understanding of the development pedigree of contemporary rhetoric theory.
