The notation thoughts and style greatly influenced by the Confucian classics discourse system, with the notation of Mao Shi as the core, and showed trait of sublime words with deep meaning. Different from the way of Li Shan's explaining the general meaning but ignoring the deep meaning, the five scholars considered themselves as the propagators of the poem teaching through two annotation ways of ironing and digging the background, so as to give notation to the authors and works. The deep meaning of the ancient poem has been explained. However, the enthusiasm on the symbolization of the object has also resulted in mechanical analogy and distortions.
