With the “One Belt, One Road” initiatives continuing to advance, Chinese enterprises, especially private enterprises have accelerated the pace of investment in overseas. Undoubtedly, Vietnam is a hot spot destination for Chinese private enterprises to invest. Based on field research, this study analyzes the investment motivation of private enterprises from the aspects of human resource cost, institutional and policy advantages, management culture, etc. The primary force for Chinese enterprises to invest in Vietnam is the abundant and cheap labor, but the demographic dividend in Vietnam is gradually disappearing. In addition, similar institutional environment, export preferential policies, huge market potential, and Confucian culture are also significant reasons to attract Chinese capital.
