Liu Xie commented on poetry with Qi in Wenxin Diaolong, which greatly promoted the mature application of the category of Qi in ancient literary criticism. This paper studies the Qi of Wenxin Diaolong from the perspective of Overseas Sinology to reveal the variant sinological forms and their variation strategies in the process of translation by exploring all kinds of English translation and interpretations of the category of Qi in Wenxin Diaolong. It is found that overseas sinologists have adopted defamiliarization variation at the word symbol level, readability variation at the semantic level and explanatory variation at the meaning level during the translation. It uses defamiliarization variation to stimulate visual attention, semantic variation to enhance the readability of the translation, and explanatory variation to expand the original meaning.
