The results show that the gravity factors such as the GDP per capita, bilateral trade, and OFDI from China are important determinants, as well as the repulsion factors such as the geographical distance and language distance, but the institutional distance is statistically insignificant. The external debt burden and the financial development affect the RMB regionalization in Africa positively, while the exchange rate volatility of African countries, the financial openness and African franc zone country dummy variable show the negative influence. The impact of some factors is different due to the income levels difference of African countries.
