Before coming to power, “political outsiders” are inexperienced in political affairs, they are usually neither party leaders nor members of parliament. Two underlying factors, which include crisis of democratic governance and election campaign based on emotions and “us-them” narratives, contribute to the rise of “political outsiders” nowadays. The rise of “political outsiders”, to some degree, can enhance the representation and responsiveness of democracy in America and Europe. However, winning the election is different with governing the society.
