Starting from the historical origins of public relations and press releases, this study uses the positive public relations continuum and Tai Chi model as the theoretical basis to analyze the content of 69 press conferences on epidemic prevention and control in Guangdong Province. This study suggests that:In the local government press conference to deal with public emergencies, the intention of press release tends to be more public-centered, the method of public release tends to be more dialogic, and accordingly, the release informational content tends to be more emotional. The release method of the dialogue is positively co-related to the emotional information carried in the release content. The speaker's willingness to share information may be a positive factor that affects the public's attention. The positive public relations practice of local government press releases should thoroughly implement the “people-centered” press release concept; in order to establish a normalized communication mechanism for dialogue between multiple subjects; to enhance the narrative empathy of the press release content; to strengthen the positive personality and cultural sharing of the press release team; and to build a cross-media and multi-level press release ecology.
