During the approximate 50 years after the restoration, both sides not only frequently sent large-scale missions to each other, but also constantly improved the etiquette of receiving each other. The poetic responding of the ministers dominated by the emperor of the Song Dynasty became an important symbol of utmost courtesy to Goryeo. Initiated by Shenzong, Zhezong and Huizong continued this tradition, forming the tradition of the monarch and the ministers' poetic responding to entertain the distant guests. The poetic creation of the Goryeo envoys is a response to the courtesy of the suzerain state. The poems left by Park In-ryang and the other envoys represent the attitude of Goryeo envoys to the Song dynasty and their level of Chinese poetry.
