Based on the texts of novels, this paper focuses on the cultural research perspective, exploring the cultural connotations and characteristics in the times embodied in the naming of novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Specifically, the paper emphasizes the relationships between the naming of novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and folk culture, imperial examination culture, taboo culture, and other factors. The names of characters in “San Yan” (Three Words), The Plum in the Golden Vase, and A Dream of Red Chamber reflect folk cultures, such as naming conventions and “Qi Qiao” (begging for skills) on Qixi Festival; The namings of novels, such as Nv Jvren Zhuan and Nv Kaike Zhuan, include imperial examination elements; Novels like Investiture of the Gods and Flowers in the Mirror set up a kind of “Bang (list)” style structure in the form of the gold list or title list, which is closely related to the imperial examination culture;
